Hello and happy Friday. Today I made a card to enter the two currently running MFT challenges.
I always feel that having a sketch or a color combination does push me to try something different. And here is my interpretation using both the color inspiration and the sketch.
- MFT Warm and Feathered Hugs stamp and die set
- MFT Stitched Circle Scallop Edge Frames die-namics
- Prismacolor Pencils Chartreuse, Apple Green, Light Aqua, True Blue, Dark Brown, Light Umber, Light Peach, Canary Yellow
- Ranger Distress Ink Tumbled Glass
I started the card by stamping the cute owl with Versafine Onyx Black ink on Neenah Classic Crest Solar White 80lbs white card stock, and colored the image with Prismacolor pencils. I allowed the stamped image to dry thoroughly before starting my coloring. As well I used a little Gamsol and blending stump to smooth the colors. Once done I die cut the image with the coordinating die.
For the background I masked the edges of the white card base to create a square that will fit my circle die cut and stamped a few snow flakes using the stamps form the same stamp set and Tumbled Glass Distress Ink.. I then used a brush to gently blend some of the same ink to create a faded edge for my square.
For the circle, I used the largest of the dies from MFT Stitched Circle Scallop Edge Frames, and die cut once from kraft card stock and three more times from white. I then stacked them to create a sturdy and dimensional frame.
To create the circle inlaid background I used one of the leftover circles, stamped some snow flakes with Versamark ink and heat embossed them with clear embossing powder I then blended the entire panel with the same Tumbled Glass distress ink and stamped some ghost tree images from the same stamp set.
For the sentiment I cut another panel from kraft card stock and white heat embossed my sentiment.
The assembly is pretty straight forward – I placed the circle frame on top of my stamped square and inlaid the circle background. I then attached the sentiment strip and foam mounted my cute little owl and the card was done.
This is a soft a cute card and I hope you like it.
Until next time – have fun creating and sharing.
